Wanderlust 108 with Swisse

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Wanderlust 108 held in Washington, DC with Swisse - Australia’s No. 1 brand for vitamins and supplements. Wanderlust 108 is considered to be the “world’s only mindful triathlon.” What does that mean? Well, the event featured three mindful activities - Running/Walking, Yoga, and Mediation. Cool, right? What better way to start a Saturday morning. The schedule was full of activities from 6:30am - 2:00pm but I chose to do the 5K, mediate and hang out with the crew from Swisse. Since recently discovering Swisse, I was really excited to learn more about their premium quality supplements and what I can do to boost my nutrition.

At Swisse’s #DestinationHappiness stunning Botanical Wall, I learned about my specific health needs and which vitamin boosts are best suited for me through an interactive digital platform.

WOOOOOO HOOOOO! I was extremely pleased with my results. I was suggested the Women’s Ultivite Mulitvitamins to maintain my energy.

I also discovered so many creative ways to detox and cleanse your body of toxins. From detoxifying Ashtanga yoga poses to supplements and choosing to eat the right foods that help with bloating (my biggest issue). I was starting to feel like a true wellness warrior ready to take on anything!

Lunch was delicious and vegan!

Hair, skin, and nail health is something we are all somewhat passionate about but it can become difficult to follow a routine when were committed to busy schedules and in my case, lots of travel. Swisse has both a liquid and tablet form of their special formula, either of which can be easily incorporated in your daily routine.

At #DestinationHappiness, I learned that the Swisse’s Hair, Skin, and Nails Liquid is made with blood orange extract from Sicily- not only is it delicious but that vitamin C helps the body naturally produce collagen, which is a key building block for shiny hair, supple skin, and strong nails. What better definition is there of #BeautyFromWithin!

This experience was absolutely fantastic!! I was able to workout, relax, eat well, and learn all at one event! A HUGE THANKS to my friends at Swisse for treating me so well. To discover the full range of vitamins and supplements for your nutritional needs, click HERE!

Travel: Laugarvatn Fontana pools

During our visit, we arrived at Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths around 2:00 pm.  Just in time to catch the tour of their traditional Icelandic geothermal bakery, which goes on every day at 11.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.  We experienced it first hand and I was blown away!  Our tour guide explained to us the history of the bakery and what the process entailed. Honestly, I don’t remember all of details because I was so hungry and I wanted to just try whatever was cooking. Our tour guide proceeded to dig out a pot of fresh rye bread from the hot black sand that was buried underground and baked for 24 hours.  Check it out!

As a guest, you are offered to taste the bread, served hot from the ground with some butter. FYI: It was sooo delicious! Even though the tour is not free (it costs 1500 ISK which is about $14.00) per person, it's definitely worth it.

So after I indulged in several pieces of buttered bread, it was time to relax. I went around the various pools testing out each of them before settling on the Viska, the hot tub.  It is positioned at a higher level than the rest of the pools so it provided such an amazing panoramic view of the mountains and beautiful landscape.

All of that relaxation definitely put me in the mood to eat.  The restaurant at Laugarvatn Fontana offers a selection of healthy and locally produced dishes and refreshments (including beer).

They offer a soup of the day, a lunch and dinner buffet that is served daily. I was really ecstatic that the buffets offers a variety of fresh and healthy options.  The line up consists of fish, meat (beef and pork), chicken, salads, and vegetarian options.

  • Soup of the day 1.200 ISK (about $11.00)
  • Lunch buffet 2.950 ISK (about $26.50)
  • Dinner buffet 4.500 ISK (about $40.00)

The food was just as delicious as it looks!

Before I forget, I want to offer you all this tip.  ** Bring your own towels, bathing suits and bathrobes. Even though they are all available for rent, you can save quite a bit of money by bringing your own.

My experience at Laugarvatn Fontana pools was delightful.  I really enjoyed my moments of solitude and being surrounded by such breathtaking views was definitely a treat on its own.

Many thanks to Laugarvatn Fontana pools for the lovely accommodations!

Ionic Detoxification at My Wellness Solutions (MWS) Health

Happy New Year EVERYONE!

I know I have been on a hiatus from posting (SORRY) but I have been spending quality time with family and friends, traveling and enjoy some ME time.  I promised myself that I would be more conscience of my health and well being for 2015 which brings me to the topic of Ionic Detoxification.  The awesome duo and fellow Latinas of My Wellness Solutions (MWS) Health, Violet and Indhira treated me to this awesome service and I must say I was shocked!  So to let you all know, I have a sweeeeet tooth.  I indulge in a piece of chocolate (sometimes two or three pieces) a day and when Indhira walked by during my treatment and said "You eat a lot of sugar, huh?" I wanted to hide under my coat.

So here is basically how it works:

Gross, huh?  From reviewing the chart and a further in depth conversation with Indhira, my results were:

  • White cheese-like particles - the yeast in my body was detoxified
  • Orange color- my joints were detoxified

These results made sense because I started my fitness regimen and I have been extremely sore (more than normal) and it has affected my sleep pattern which in turn, I had a lack of energy.  I was eating sweets to "wake" me up but there are so many other natural alternatives that would contribute to restoring my body's energy like drinking cold pressed juices, eating fruits and an occasional colonic, which is a service that MWS also provides.

I am so thankful to the ladies of MWS Health for providing me with a wealth of knowledge regarding the importance of protecting your body's health from the inside out.  Please check out their awesome site: http://www.mywellnesssolutions.com to discover great quality alternative health services and guidance on the importance of proper nutrition.  I promise, you will enjoy.
